Handwritten Words - Bookbinding
With the help of friends Cecile Lindstedt and Tracy Strong, and four grants from the
Putnam Arts Council, I devised, edited, illustrated for and published four volumes of
The Art Garden Vista, a hand-colored, limited-edition
anthology of the best Art Garden writings. My interest in
handmade books abides. In 1995 I began formal study at the Center for Book Arts in New
York City. My books have been featured in shows in New York and elsewhere.
These are pictures of some of the books I made after studying at the Center for
Book Arts in New York City.

WHITMAN'S SAMPLER: Box 2 ¾"x 3 3/8", books 1"x ¾" Hand-painted paper, gocco-printed.

GLORIA: Book 3 ½" x 6", Folding Box 4"x 6 ½". Handtooled, incised and dyed aluminum, stitched
with metal thread, adorned with beads in a box using silk, rayon and velvet.

BOOK O'CLOCK: 5"x 3 ¼" Japanese binding cloth, quartz clock, Twinrocker paper, gocco printed
with rubber stamps.
