AUGUST 5, 2012

I hope you will join us between 4-6 at this delightful event as we head down the brand-new Hudson Highlands Land Trust River of Words Poetry Trail at Constitution Marsh for a wonderful celebration of children’s poetry. I was asked to select 10 poems from our school workshops, which I then hand-lettered onto muslin. They are exhibited through the marsh in a self-guided tour which will be available for a month, but if you come this Sunday, you will get to meet the beaming young poets!

AUGUST 26, 2012

I’m participating in a new kind of spoken word performance on Sunday, August 26th from 12 noon to 4pm in the Widow Jane Mine on the Snyder Estate at 66 Rte. 213, Rosendale, NY 12472. Admission is $5 which benefits the Century House Historical Society. I’m very excited by the work my “teammates” and I have come up with, and I think you will be, too. Catch it if you can.

The Widow Jane Mine is a remarkable space–an abandoned cement mine that supplied cement for many American landmarks including, the Brooklyn Bridge, the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty, the wings of the U.S. Capitol, the Washington Monument, and Grand Central Terminal. It’s a great place for poetry.

I’m proud to be one of twelve poets chosen by a consensus of regional poetry series hosts. Poets Glenn Werner and Adrianna Delgado created a new format they call “Spoken Aggregate.”  We are working in groups of three to create a collection of unique collaborative works.

Mike Jurkovic, Marina Mati and I will take the stage around 1 or 1:30 to read and lend our voices to each other’s works. Our set finishes with an extended excerpt from The Third Day, one of my best pieces of writing.
During the breaks between programs, there will be poetry open mic sessions and music. The participating poets’ books, and CD’s will be available for sale, and potluck food and refreshments will be available. For further information, please contact  Glenn Werner, Producer Tel.: 845.978.1936 Email: gw@spokenaggregate.com
